{"id":30,"date":"2007-08-17T22:36:11","date_gmt":"2007-08-18T05:36:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/elbertcounty.net\/blog\/archives\/30"},"modified":"2007-09-15T10:14:08","modified_gmt":"2007-09-15T17:14:08","slug":"transportation-network-modeling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/elbertcounty.net\/blog\/2007\/08\/transportation-network-modeling\/","title":{"rendered":"transp network modeling"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><center><\/center><\/p>\n<h3><!--more-->\u00a0\u00a0<\/h3>\n<h3><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" align=\"middle\" width=\"32\" src=\"http:\/\/my.execpc.com\/~ajh\/bowarrow.gif\" hspace=\"5\" height=\"32\" \/> <a href=\"http:\/\/my.execpc.com\/~ajh\/intro.htm\">What is QRS II?<\/a><\/h3>\n<p><em>Version 7<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Quick Response System II runs the four-step planning process \u2013 trip generation, trip distribution, mode split, traffic\/transit assignment \u2013 for highway and transit forecasting.\u00a0 Networks and data are entered and edited graphically using the powerful General Network Editor.<\/p>\n<p>The Windows environment, with its buttons, menus and dialog boxes, permits fast setup of simulations, retrieval of results and data transfer to many other Windows applications, such as spreadsheets, wordprocessors and graphic packages.\u00a0 An advanced version of GNE also is available.<\/p>\n<p>QRS II is a state-of-the-art planning package, which can replace UTPS, Planpac, and other similarly outdated planning packages.\u00a0 It can provide traditional region-wide forecasting, as well as site impact analysis and corridor analysis.<\/p>\n<p>Among its advanced capabilities, QRS II performs equilibrium traffic assignment and stochastic multipath transit trip assignment.\u00a0 Dynamic and\/or multiclass equilibrium traffic assignment is also available for highway networks. \u00a0It explicitly considers the effects of traffic-controlled intersections \u2013 signals and signs \u2013 following the 2000 Highway Capacity Manual.\u00a0 Traffic congestion is fully reflected in forecasts of patterns of travel, as well as the presence of conflicting and opposing traffic.\u00a0 Default parameters are supplied, but can be easily modified, either in dialog boxes or in text files.\u00a0 Although QRS II is not specifically a sketch-planning tool, it does support the highly popular sketch-planning procedures found in NCHRP Report #187 and #365. \u00a0QRS II provides an extensive range of methods for refining forecasts from traffic counts.<\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"http:\/\/elbertcounty.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/08\/rifle-transportation-network-model.pdf\" title=\"City of Rifle transportation network model using QRS II\">City of Rifle transportation network model using QRS II<\/a><\/h3>\n<blockquote>\n<h3><font size=\"3\" face=\"BookmanOldStyle\"><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Transportation models, by definition, are representations of travel choices made by individuals across a geographic area, impacting physical structures such as roads, bridges, parking areas, and intersections.
