{"id":2882,"date":"2012-05-18T12:48:34","date_gmt":"2012-05-18T19:48:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/elbertcounty.net\/blog\/2012\/05\/18\/rubbish\/"},"modified":"2012-05-29T21:27:05","modified_gmt":"2012-05-30T04:27:05","slug":"rubbish","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/elbertcounty.net\/blog\/2012\/05\/rubbish\/","title":{"rendered":"rubbish"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li>Tea Party Central <a href=\"http:\/\/elbertcounty.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/important-story-developing-in-elbert.pdf\" title=\"Important Story Developing in Elbert\">Important Story Developing in Elbert<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/elbertcounty.net\/blog\/?page_id=2890\"><\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/elbertcounty.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/fwd-update-on-the-commissioners-rubbish-program.pdf\" title=\"Teaparty Update on the Commissioners Rubbish Program\">Teaparty Update on the Commissioners Rubbish Program<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Jill Duvall&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/elbertcounty.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/budget-meeting-turned-into-a-rubbish-ordinance.pdf\" title=\"Budget Meeting Turned Into a Rubbish Ordinance\">Budget Meeting Turned Into a Rubbish Ordinance<\/a><\/li>\n<li>New Plains Anonymous&#8217; <a href=\"http:\/\/elbertcounty.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/why-you-should-be-vewy-vewy-afwaid.pdf\" title=\"Why You Should Be Vewy Vewy Afwaid\">Why You Should Be Vewy Vewy Afwaid<\/a><\/li>\n<li>William Thomas&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/elbertcounty.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/new-plains-editorial.pdf\" title=\"New Plains Editorial\">New Plains Editorial<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><\/blockquote>\n<p><em>Lots of garbage this week.<\/em><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>First off, Rowland misrepresented the process of <a href=\"http:\/\/elbertcounty.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/rubbish-ordinance-first-reading.mp3\" title=\"enacting this law\">enacting this law<\/a>.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/elbertcounty.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/93292505-rubbish-ordinance.pdf\">Ordinance NO. 12-01<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/elbertcounty.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/93292505-rubbish-ordinance.pdf\"><\/a> replaces <a href=\"http:\/\/elbertcounty.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/rubbish-ordinance-11-01.pdf\" title=\"Ordinance NO. 11-01\">Ordinance NO. 11-01<\/a> which commissioners signed last year at this time.\u00a0 To infer that this is an extraordinary action on the part of the Commission misrepresents the facts.<\/p>\n<p>As for this law offending a <em>conservative<\/em> sensibility, if anything, it appears the new law actually expands the zone of liberty from the old law by exempting <em>industrial tracts of ten or more acres and agricultural land<\/em>.\u00a0 Last year&#8217;s law contained no such exemption.\u00a0 (<em>Correction<\/em>: It was pointed out this clause was actually in the old law through reference to C.R.S.)\u00a0 Moreover, a number of clauses in the old law dealing with motor vehicles have been taken out of the new law.<\/p>\n<p>Once again, Rowland demonstrates his intemperance, leaping into <a href=\"http:\/\/elbertcounty.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/rowland-5_16.jpg\" title=\"issue after issue\">issue after issue<\/a> spouting fire and brimstone with no foundation, no material contribution to the discussion, and another sack full of mudballs flung wildly at his targets.<\/p>\n<p>Where was he last year at this time when <a href=\"http:\/\/elbertcounty.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/rubbish-ordinance-11-01.pdf\" title=\"Ordinance NO. 11-01\">Ordinance NO. 11-01\u00a0<\/a> was first brought up and passed by this Commission?\u00a0\u00a0 Oh that&#8217;s right, Rowland wasn&#8217;t a Republican candidate at that time, or even a Republican?<\/p>\n<p>And what&#8217;s with this nom de plume <a href=\"http:\/\/elbertcounty.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/rubbish-police.jpg\" title=\"Edwin P. Jasper\">Edwin P. Jasper<\/a>? Are the left so scarce in Elbert County that the only people they can find to agree with them have to be simulated?\u00a0 Is this someone&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/elbertcounty.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/edwin-p-jasper.jpg\" title=\"avatar\">avatar<\/a> they paid good money to publish?\u00a0\u00a0 He&#8217;s not on any of the voter rolls in Elbert County.\u00a0 Maybe he&#8217;s just too young to vote, though it&#8217;s a little surprising that a youngster would spend his lunch money for advertising to encourage everyone to register to vote, presumably against the current commissioners.<\/p>\n<p>And then you have Pippin buying his own letter writing space, <a href=\"http:\/\/elbertcounty.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/county-government-and-me.jpg\" title=\"County Government &amp; Me\">County Government &amp; Me<\/a>, because evidently it is all about him.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a sad admission, having to buy space in the local fishwrap to make his point,\u00a0 you know, that lunker he keeps fishing for in the recesses of county file cabinets.<\/p>\n<p>Another load to pick up from this week&#8217;s fishwrap comes from Mr. Ross&#8217;s reprise of his remedial sojourn through the dictionary at the candidate forum last week.\u00a0 I know he means well, but it felt weird to hear a lecture on <a href=\"http:\/\/elbertcounty.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/ross-5_16.jpg\" title=\"these definitions\">these definitions<\/a> at the candidate forum, and it doesn&#8217;t stand up much better in print.<\/p>\n<p>Then we have web contributions fueling the fires of populist umbrage and righteous indignation from <a href=\"http:\/\/elbertcounty.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/fwd-update-on-the-commissioners-rubbish-program.pdf\">Mr. Rowland<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/elbertcounty.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/new-plains-editorial.pdf\">Mr. Thomas<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/elbertcounty.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/budget-meeting-turned-into-a-rubbish-ordinance.pdf\">Ms. Duvall<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/elbertcounty.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/why-you-should-be-vewy-vewy-afwaid.pdf\">New Plains Anonymous<\/a>, all of whom dither about their purported right to input, also known as hijacking county government for their personal unelected agendas.<\/p>\n<p>In sum, the BOCC is acting within the statutory powers they were elected to perform.\u00a0 If people don&#8217;t like it, the ballot box is the time and place to voice that opinion.<\/p>\n<p>Calling for demonstrations, whipping up the usual populist suspects to come on down and make a good ol&#8217; fashioned clamor,\u00a0 this self-aggrandizing narcissism is no portend of sound leadership or good government.\u00a0 <em>No one elected these people to represent us.\u00a0 They appointed themselves.<\/em>\u00a0 God forbid any such rabble be given the reigns of county commissioner.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tea Party Central Important Story Developing in Elbert Teaparty Update on the Commissioners Rubbish Program Jill Duvall&#8217;s Budget Meeting Turned Into a Rubbish Ordinance New Plains Anonymous&#8217; Why You Should Be Vewy Vewy Afwaid William Thomas&#8217;s New Plains Editorial Lots of garbage this week.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"nf_dc_page":"","_genesis_hide_title":false,"_genesis_hide_breadcrumbs":false,"_genesis_hide_singular_image":false,"_genesis_hide_footer_widgets":false,"_genesis_custom_body_class":"","_genesis_custom_post_class":"","_genesis_layout":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[8],"tags":[],"class_list":{"0":"post-2882","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","6":"category-politics","7":"entry"},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/elbertcounty.net\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/2882","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/elbertcounty.net\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/elbertcounty.net\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/elbertcounty.net\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/elbertcounty.net\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=2882"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/elbertcounty.net\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/2882\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/elbertcounty.net\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=2882"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/elbertcounty.net\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=2882"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/elbertcounty.net\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=2882"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
