Led by <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Aitzaz_Ahsan\">Aitzaz Ahsan<\/a>,&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><em>Aitzaz Ahsan is an active member of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ppp.org.pk\/\">Pakistan Peoples Party<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ppp.org.pk\/\">.<\/a><\/em>    <font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">&#8220;Among the express goals for which the                            Party was formed were the                          establishment of an egalitarian democracy and the application of socialistic                                                  ideas to realize economic and                                                  social justice. <\/font><br \/>\n<font face=\"Arial\">The Life Chairperson &#8211; Pakistan                                                  Peoples Party<\/font><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ppp.org.pk\/images\/bb.jpg\" border=\"0\" height=\"127\" width=\"122\" \/><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"> <strong>Benazir Bhutto  <\/strong><\/font><a href=\"http:\/\/elbertcounty.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/11\/pakistan-sharia-law.pdf\" title=\"Pakistan Sharia Law\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/elbertcounty.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/11\/pakistan-sharia-law.pdf\" title=\"Pakistan Sharia Law\">Pakistan Sharia Law<\/a>   &#8220;The Enforcement of <em>Sharia<\/em>    Act 1991 affirms the supremacy of the <em>sharia<\/em>, (defined in the Act as    the injunctions of Islam as laid down in the Holy Quran and <em>Sunnah<\/em>)    as the supreme law of Pakistan. The Act states that all statute law is to be    interpreted in light of the <em>sharia<\/em> and that all Muslim citizens of Pakistan    shall observe the <em>sharia<\/em> and act accordingly.<\/p>\n<p>.<\/p>\n<p><em>Why is the NYT so sympathetic to the Pakistani sharia left?
