Decoding the latest TRW rant in the 8/30/07 ECN:
Commissioner Metli is a lame duck who impoverished the road and bridge department and is, therefore, no prophetic transportation visionary.
The TRW who fought the Super Slab are the true transportation visionaries in the county.
Ports-to-Plains is the right vision, not Super Slab.
TRW are Ports-to-Plains experts with knowledge that others fear.
Those who give credence to Super Slab over Ports-to-Plains are stupid.
Putting Super Slab on a planning contingency map would damage property owners who have already been damaged, and would help Ray Wells get financing. All planning for possible Super Slab existence is taboo.
Conspicuously missing from the latest TRW rant was any talk of how to facilitate Elbert County citizens getting to and from their destinations. i.e. The whole purpose of transportation planning.
Perhaps that’s why TRW input into the transportation master plan was not, apparently, valued.
An interesting parallel: Proponents of overhauling Colorado health care never seem to get to the meat of their process either — facilitating the provision of health care. They talk entirely about who might pay, but never about who will provide.
